Valuable Information Gathered

During the 2008-2009 school year the District Improvement Education Team (DIET) was formed to enhance student learning in the district. The group is made up of East Valley parents, staff members, school administrators and a consultant from the Office of Superintendent for Education. One of the goals of the team was to conduct a parent survey to hear concerns. The survey was conducted and compiled last spring. The district was pleased with 70 % of the parents returning the form. This is a good example of the high level of community and family support we have in the East Valley School District. The information will be used to make decisions regarding improvements and changes that will be made in the district.

Based on the results, the areas of celebration are parents feel welcome and appreciated in the individual buildings and classrooms. Parents think that East Valley's teachers are committed to helping children achieve an excellent education and communicate students' progress in a timely manner. The survey data showed the need to better communicate with parents, specifically providing information on what children learn at each grade level as well as how parents can obtain help for their students. Information will also be used to improve our counseling services.

The information has been shared with the building leadership teams at each of the schools. If you would like to know more about the survey results, please click this link. Thank you for your involvement in our survey. We are always interested in ways to improve student learning.
