COVID-19 - Updated Bus Rules

Students who ride our EVSD buses are assigned a seat on the bus. Students are required to sit in the same seat each day/trip. Bus drivers maintain a seating chart for each bus route. These seating charts help East Valley staff contact trace and identify any close contacts if there is a confirmed positive COVID-19 case with one of our students or bus drivers who rode our buses.

At this time, due to seating chart requirements and COVID-19 contact tracing, students are to take the same bus each day as scheduled. Students will not be allowed to ride a different bus (ex. going over to a friend’s house after school). If there is an emergency situation and the student cannot ride their designated bus that day, alternate bus arrangements need to be made with the school or Transportation Department by 1:00 pm. Bus drivers can only accept a note that has come from the school office. No text messages on a student’s phone will be accepted.

The EVSD follows all health and safety requirements set by the DOH and the Yakima Health District for COVID-19. It is our goal to create the safest learning environment possible for our students and staff, to enable us to continue all day, in-person classes. These precautions extend to our buses and Transportation Department too. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
