Student Emails Active After Winter Break!

When we made the decision to move to one to one technology for our students, part of the planning process included providing access to email for students in grades 6 through 12 for educational purposes. We made this decision in an effort to allow students opportunities to communicate more effectively, not only with one another, but also with their teachers via Google Classroom and other electronic applications. In addition, these student emails would allow our high school students the opportunity to complete scholarship applications, job applications, and other communications that require an email address as they prepare for post-secondary opportunities.

The implementation of student email was delayed at the beginning of the year as we worked through the setup and filtering process to ensure student access and protection was to the highest of standards. We have recently completed the setup process and expect to begin using student emails upon our return from winter break on January 2nd. When we return students in grades 6 –12 will be able to access their student email accounts through Google. Students in grades 6-8 will only be allowed email communication with other individuals (teachers or students) at East Valley Central MS. Students in grades 9-12, will have full access to email communication to individuals with addresses both in and out of our district.

To ensure the highest level of safety possible for our students, all student email will be filtered with Securely for inappropriate language, bullying/harassment, or other flagged content. The filtering software will work both at school and at home, and will examine both the subject and content of each email. We believe this will greatly reduce and/or eliminate inappropriate use of email.
