Actions

Improve student educational outcomes by advancing the BIG Five and Professional Learning Community Initiatives – Big Five, PLC components and subject area initiatives will be implemented in each of our schools to prepare students to achieve Common Core State Standards and Smarter Balanced assessments to be college and career ready upon graduation.

Update and implement the five-year district facility improvement and equipment replacement plan.

Continue to update the district and individual school websites and implement procedures to keep messages and information current.

 

Work with the communications director to implement enhanced communications with district staff and community members.

Provide professional development and improvement strategies through Teacher Leader Cadre to develop teacher leaders for all schools.

 

Administrators will engage in focused data analysis and discussion during weekly ILT meetings. This work will be focused on measuring the effectiveness of implementing the PLC process and the positive impact on student achievement.

Implement a work plan to complete the EVHS construction project and manage disruptions and safety concerns throughout the project.

 

 

Provide inservice to equip building leaders with skills to update and keep their individual school website current. 

 

Develop and implement plan to include high school and middle school students in the process of keeping school websites current.

Janel Keating, Solution Tree Consultant, principals and teacher leaders will provide building level and grade level professional development for teachers across the district to identify and implement the most effective practices in all classrooms across the district.

Attend weekly construction meetings to monitor and provide input to construction concerns, modifications, etc. throughout the project.

Expand strategies to incorporate use of social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.).  Continue to produce a Superintendents monthly news release.

Incorporate rigorous learning improvement and student growth goals into the principal and teacher evaluation process to achieve continuous improvement for all students.

Monitor completion of the EVE modernization plan (flooring, wall coverings, brick columns).

Develop advanced systems to distribute electronic (School Messenger) messages to English and Spanish partners.

Russ and I will participate in Yakima Valley Superintendents Network to learn and implement enhanced leadership practices to improve student learning.

Implement strategies to enhance the appearance and cleanliness of all schools and district facilities.  Provide professional development and implement enhanced monitoring systems to achieve higher levels of cleanliness and accountability.

Implement strategies to enhance communications to Spanish speaking parents and community members through the district newsletter and other publications.

Evaluation

Provide professional development to implement all components of the District Big Five initiative and provide an annual summary report to the board.

 

Provide district wide PLC (Professional Learning Community) professional development and support.

 

Provide TLC (Teacher Leader Cadre) focused professional development to support teacher leadership in each school.  

 

Continue work to prepare students to make one year’s growth in all subject areas and pass the Smarter Balanced assessment.

 

Continue to provide teacher professional development to fully implement Wonders – English Language Arts and Ready Math instructional materials.   

 

Implement ongoing student assessments to monitor student growth throughout the year.  Assessment data will be utilized to plan differentiations, interventions and enrichments for all students to achieve at least one year’s growth in all content areas.

 

Assess all students using common assessments (DIBELS, STAAR Reading, STAAR Math and benchmark assessments) to determine one or more year’s growth. 

Evaluate an updated district facility improvement and equipment replacement plan and present to the school board by May 2019. 

 

Attend weekly construction meetings to monitor progress on the High School construction project.    

 

Work with Loofburrow Wetch Architects and the Wenaha Group to analyze and make necessary adjustments to the EVHS construction project.

 

Monitor completion of the EVE flooring and wall covering repair project to be completed by August 24, 2018.

 

Conduct monthly evaluation walk throughs with building principal and district maintenance supervisor to assess the appearance and cleanliness of all schools and district facilities - implement adjustments as needed.

 

Work with the district communications director to update the district website and maintain systems to update information in a timely manner. 

 

Develop expectations, provide training and hold building leaders accountable to update their school websites and keep them current.

 

Work with communications director to implement a variety of electronic systems to disseminate information timely (Facebook, Twitter, School Messenger, etc.).

 

Continue to produce and disseminate an electronic monthly Superintendents news release. 

 

Work with communications director and building leaders to enhance information dissemination for Spanish speaking families and community members.

 

Work with the communications director to implement enhanced communications with district staff and community members (Soup with the Sups., Coffee with the Community, etc.).

Actions

Successfully recruit, support and retain an exceptional staff that is passionate about student success and student learning.

Develop marketing tools and innovative strategies to recruit staff during a time of shortage.

Plan and conduct negotiations to reach settlement of a new contract with EVEA within board parameters.

Implement resources and procedures to support the integration of technology for all classrooms.

Conduct a needs assessment to obtain input to guide district professional development offerings.

 

Continue to expand the job fairs to recruit staff

 

Plan and conduct negotiations to reach settlement of a new contract with PSE within board parameters.

Support teacher use of technology through ongoing focused professional development and

 

 

Provide relevant, timely, effective and focused professional development opportunities to meet the learning needs for our staff.

Begin negotiations to reach settlement of a new agreement with the Principal work group within board parameters.

Provide a technology fair for teachers to learn new skills.

 

Provide opportunities to enhance staff leadership, professional collaboration, professional development and skill development throughout the East Valley School District.

Develop a plan to implement salary enhancements for non-represented groups in the district office.

Implement an online professional development library for our staff to access.

Provide mentoring for 1st and 2nd year teachers to support the implementation of highly effective teaching strategies.

 

 

Measurement

Develop enhanced marketing tools and strategies to attract quality staff for the East Valley School District. 

 

Continue to participate in out of area and out of state career fairs to recruit quality staff to the district. 

 

Conduct professional development needs assessment to determine specific PD needs for all staff. 

 

Continue to refine and implement an annual staff development plan and provide staff training to target specific areas to improve learning for students.

 

Promote staff leaders to enhance implementation of teacher collaboration, professional learning communities and professional growth for all staff.  

 

Provide PD opportunities to carry out the full implementation of Professional Learning Communities. 

 

Develop systems and strategies to provide mentoring for new staff. 

 

Implement the BEST grant and incorporate SLICS to provide monthly PD for new staff to the district – Danielson framework, differentiation and learning enrichments for students in all classrooms and effective classroom management strategies.

Complete EVEA contract negotiations within the parameters approved by the board. 

 

Complete PSE contract negotiations within the parameters approved by the board.

 

Complete Principal contract negotiations within the parameters approved by the board.

 

Complete a plan to adjust salaries for the district office non-represented groups.

 

Implement purchase plan to continue to replace and support the blended classroom environment. 

 

Provide teacher inservice and professional development sessions to expand teacher skills in implementing one-to-one technology. 

 

Implement technology systems to protect student cyber security and promote digital citizenship.
