COVID-19 In-School Testing

The East Valley School District will be offering COVID-19 rapid antigen and PCR testing to students or staff who exhibit COVID-19 symptoms while at school or are considered a "close contact" to a staff or student who has tested positive. Parental/guardian permission is required prior to administering a COVID-19 test to students. 

 

If symptoms appear while at home, DO NOT send your student to school to be tested. Home test results or tests from a community testing site or pharmacy will be accepted. For a list of testing sites please visit: Yakima County COVID-19 Testing Sites.

 

 

What type of COVID-19 tests are being offered?

Rapid Antigen Test and PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) - both are shallow nasal swab.

 

Who will be administering the tests?

EVSD nurses or health room assistants.

 

Where and when will the tests be offered?

At the student’s school, during the school day. 

 

How long does it take to get the results from the rapid antigen test?

Parents/guardians will register for the rapid test at their school’s website link below. Parents will receive the test results within about 15 minutes via a text message. Parental/guardian permission is required prior to administering a COVID-19 test to students.

How long does it take to get the results from the PCR test?

Results are generally received within 24-48 hours. Parents/guardians will receive test result notification from the school. Parental/guardian permission is required prior to administering a COVID-19 test to students. 

 

Who are the tests for?

  • Staff and students who are at school and exhibiting symptoms. 
  • Staff and students who are considered "close contacts" to a staff member or student who has tested positive.

 

Can other community members be tested at East Valley schools?

No, at this time, testing is only available to EVSD students and staff who exhibit symptoms of COVID-19 (while at school) or who are considered a "close contact" of a staff or student from EVSD. What is the cost for testing?

Testing is free to staff and students.
